Today the Supreme Court delivered a ruling many of us feared but expected. By siding with the Trump administration, the Court has opened the door for immigration agents to stop and detain people simply because of the color of their skin, the language they speak, or the work they do.
While we expected this, it does not hurt any less. Our communities have fought too long and too hard to have our constitutional rights stripped away. We will not be silenced, and we will not stop fighting until the Constitution is not only preserved, but restored for every worker, every immigrant, and every family in this country.
The Los Angeles Worker Center Network is proud to serve as a plaintiff in this case. We carry into this fight the voices of low wage workers across Los Angeles who are already vulnerable to exploitation and abuse. Alongside our member worker centers, we form a community of support and resistance, ensuring that workers know their rights, have the resources to defend themselves, and remain united in the face of these attacks.
This decision will not end the struggle. As plaintiffs and as organizers, we are determined to keep pushing forward in the courts, in the streets, and in every workplace where dignity and justice are on the line. The fight is far from over, and our resolve has never been stronger.
